Field Trippin’: The Farmers’ Market

Farmers' Market

Yesterday, I went on an adventure to the Riverside Arts Market in Jacksonville. The arts market was filled with local artists, food vendors, live entertainment and a produce market. My mission on this trip: to score some fresh, locally-grown produce.

…And that I did!

Bags Of Produce

For $10, I took home an array Red Peppers, Green Peppers, Eggplant, Sweet Potatoes and Green Tomatoes.

Array Of Vegetables

I also discovered a little pickle and olive stand where I purchased some Garlic Stuffed Green Olives and a tasty medley of Olives mixed with Sun-Dried Tomatoes. Yummy!

My trip to the arts market was a success for two reasons:

1) I picked up lots of tasty veggies to use for future recipes, like Fried Green Tomato BLTs, Shrimp Stuffed Peppers and Eggplant Parmesan.

2) I also helped to support the local economy by buying locally-grown products. (If you’re not familiar with the pros of buying local, here’s a web site called Sustainable Table that provides some information about it.)

What a wonderful way to spend Saturday morning! I’m excited to incorporate my farmers’ market finds into some tasty recipes! Recipes coming soon…

  2. I went there with my family and took my daughters’ dog….leashed dogs are allowed. There’s arts and crafts, food, entertainment, fun for the whole family- all ages. Loved it! – Abby
