Field Trippin’: Native Sun Natural Foods Market

Native Sun Natural Foods Market

For those who don’t already know, Kerri, Michelle and I prefer to buy organic and natural food products. Generally, they are fresher and don’t contain ingredients that are harmful to your body, such as hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrups and artificial sweeteners.

Majority of our shopping trips are spent in the organic aisle of the supermarket or at produce markets and health food stores, like Whole Foods Market.

Last weekend, I went on trip to one of my favorite local health food stores, Native Sun Natural Foods Market with Michelle and another friend, Brianna.

Native Sun is an organic food market based in Jacksonville, Fla. They have two locations: one on Baymeadows Road and one in Mandarin. The stores feature a large selection of fresh, organic produce, bulk foods, and a plethora of natural, organic foods, meats and household products. Each store also has a deli where they prepare fresh salads, sandwiches and desserts and a dining area for enjoying your deli purchases.

We spent the afternoon, roaming the aisles looking for our favorite organic items and picking out new products to take home and turn into meals (and future blog posts.) We sampled Native Sun’s featured items and took home nearly every one we tried! I mean, how could you pass up tea that tastes like a sugar cookie!?

We also enjoyed a fresh meal from the deli for lunch. I had a kale-based salad called Raw Power and a Seared Ahi Tuna wrap with Sesame Dressing – so yummy!

Fresh ProduceThe produce section…don’t all those vibrantly-colored fruits and veggies look delicious!?

I ended up spending $65, but it’s always worth it to buy healthy food! My fridge and cabinets are now filled with organic treats such as Artichoke Lemon Pesto, Cajun Seasoned Cashews, Organic Sour Cream, Chipotle Black Bean Dip Mix, Potato Leek Soup, Metromint Peppermint Water, Organic Vanilla Cake Mix and a case of Bold City Brewery’s Killer Whale Cream Ale (a delicious, local brew), just to name a few of the items I bought.

Native Sun Goodies

If you like to shop green and live in Jacksonville, I highly recommend Native Sun. (Besides, Michelle works there so you should go pay her a visit!)

  2. I highly recommend it! Everything there is tasty and good for you! Since Native Sun is a local health food grocer, you’ll also help stimulate the local economy.
