Consume Yourself: Soysage Biscuits And Gravy

Soysage Biscuits and Gravy

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

With cold weather outside and the morning off of work, I woke up craving some homemade comfort food for breakfast. After a cup of coffee, the idea of biscuits and gravy popped into my head. I scoured the web and found a delicious (and easy) recipe for Whole Wheat Biscuits to pair with my soysage gravy and went straight to work!

WHAT YOU NEED:

– 2 Soy Sausage Patties (I prefer Morningstar brand.)

– 2 Vegetable Bullion Cubes

– 4 tbsp Water

– 1/4 cup White Whole-Wheat Flour

– 2 cups Milk

– A dash of Salt

– A generous dash of Pepper

LET’S BEGIN:

Gather ingredients.

Ingredients

Dice up slightly thawed soy sausage patties into small pieces.

Diced Soy Sausage

Heat the soy sausage in a pan with the bullion and water on medium heat until a sauce is formed.

Heat Soysage, Water and Buillion

Reduce heat to low. Drain and remove sausage from the pan and set aside.

Drain And Set Aside Soysage

Add the flour and milk to the sauce in the pan and whisk together well. Make sure none of the flour sticks to the bottom of the pan.

Add Flour And Milk

Return heat back to medium and stir occasionally, allowing the gravy to simmer and thicken.

Thickening Gravy

Once the gravy is thickened, add the soy sausage, salt and pepper and mix well.

Add Soysage To Thickened Sauce

This is what you gravy should look like…

Finished Gravy

Serve the gravy on fresh Whole-Wheat Biscuits. (See biscuit recipe in blog intro.) I enjoyed my biscuits and gravy with some delicious grapefruit on the side!

Biscuits, Gravy and Grapefruit

These Soysage Biscuits and Gravy were so warm and delicious that they instantly satisfied my comfort food craving!

Try them out on a chilly winter morning and let me know how they work out for you! Enjoy!
